In a slew of amazing "luck," I am finally having my tonsils and adenoids removed. At 30. Positive and negative aspects abound, not the least of which is the fact that I've been on 6 rounds of antibiotics since November 1st for my tonsils. On the other hand, the recovery for adults who undergo the standard excision and electrocautery method is supposedly hellacious. The pain comes not really from the removal, but from the electrocautery, which basically uses what amounts to a medical-grade soldering iron to give the entire surgical site second to third degree burns, which will heal over a few weeks after surgery.
Oh, and I'm only going to have two days to recover before going back to school, so I have that to look forward to, too.
